IBM Announces Empowerment Programme with SA Government - 19 February 2015
IBM and the Department of Trade and Industry announced a R700 million Equity Equivalency Investment Programme in Cape Town yesterday. The programme will be rolled out over ten years and is designed to not only fulfil the requirements of B-BBEE ownership but drive socio-economic advancement and development within the South African economy. A first-of-a kind programme in South Africa, it integrates academic, enterprise development and research and development components into a holistic skills development programme intended to accelerate South Africa’s digital capability in the global market. The programme is under the parameters of the Department of Trade, Equity Equivalents provisions, and affords IBM South Africa a BBEEE level 2 rating.
