  • Hamelton Ratshefola

    Hamelton Ratshefola, Country General Manager: South Africa – IBM

    Hamilton joined IBM as a graduate and trainee System Engineer in 1990. He worked as a mainframe Systems Engineer in the banking and retail environment before moving into Sales in 1993. He was promoted to management in 1995 and later moved to lead the Industry Team in Travel & Transportation in 1997.

    Hamilton was then included in IBM’s development assignment programme where he worked on assignment in the UK, Italy, Denmark and the US, to gain exposure to IBM client environments and global best case practice. Following this, Hamilton returned to South Africa to lead the IBM Public Sector Business and worked with key government organizations, including SARS and Department of Home Affairs to solve their complex business problems.

    In 2000 Hamilton co-founded Cornastone, a successful IBM Business Partner.

    Hamilton rejoined IBM South Africa in June 2013 and reported to the Country General Manager as Director - Enterprise and MidMarket (EMM)

    On 1 June 2015, Hamilton was appointed IBM South Africa’s Country General Manager.

    Dr. Inderpal Bhandari, Global Chief Data Officer - IBM

    Inderpal Bhandari recently rejoined IBM as Global Chief Data Officer. In this newly created role, he will leverage his extensive experience to lead the development of IBM’s data strategy.

    Inderpal brings to IBM more than 20 years of experience in leadership roles at such leading companies as Cambia Health Solutions and Express Scripts/Medco Health Solutions. Prior to joining IBM, Inderpal served as Senior Vice President and Chief Data Officer of Cambia Health Solutions where he led the development of Cambia’s data strategy and drove the transformation of the company’s consumer experience strategies.

    Prior to that, Inderpal served as Vice President of knowledge solutions and Chief Data Officer at Express Scripts/Medco Health Solutions, where he was responsible for maximizing the utility of the company’s data and its readiness to respond to emerging market trends. Prior to that, he founded Virtual Gold, growing the company into an international market leader for analytics in call centers and professional sports.

    Inderpal is an expert in transforming data into business value and improved customer experiences by delivering strategic, innovative capabilities that use analytic insights to enable growth and productivity. He has been featured as an industry expert by Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, US News & World Report, CNN and FOX.

    Inderpal earned his Master of Science Degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering from the University of Massachusetts and holds a PhD in Electrical & Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.

    Andrew Quixley, Watson Platform Sales Leader - IBM

    Andrew Quixley currently leads sales for Watson – IBM’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) platform – across Middle East & Africa. He has 30+ years of professional experience, including 16 years in the IT industry – with IBM and with Oracle – where his focus has been on leading teams to envision, market, sell and implement enterprise business solutions for major clients. In previous roles he has held executive leadership responsibilities and also served 8 years as a naval officer.

    Andrew holds a Masters degree in Business Administration from Cornell University, USA, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from the University of Nottingham, UK. A British citizen, Andrew lives with his family in South Africa.

    Paul Walsh, Director Weather Strategy - IBM/ The Weather Company

    As Director, Weather Strategy and Business Meteorologist for IBM’s Global Business Services, Paul helps large retail and consumer packaged goods companies use weather and climate "big data" to create and execute weather strategies that lead to more effective and profitable business outcomes.

    One of the nation’s leading experts on the impact of weather on consumers and business, Paul’s observations are regularly featured on The Weather Channel and CNBC, and he’s been quoted in many national media outlets including The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, and The New York Times. Before joining The Weather Company, Paul served as Senior Vice President, Business Solutions at Atmospheric and Environmental Research (a Verisk Analytics company), Chief Strategy Officer at Storm Exchange, Inc., and Senior Vice President, Client Services/Analytics at Planalytics, Inc. Prior to 1997 as a meteorologist in the United States Air Force, Paul provided weather-based intelligence support to war fighters and mission planners and served as the Chief of Weather Operations for the US Army’s elite 101st Airborne Division during Operation Desert Storm.

    Shane leverages more than 25 years of experience from entrepreneurial organisations, through software engineering to multinational technology vendors and consulting leadership roles, building and delivering business transformation and optimisation solutions with clients and their partners.

    Since re-joining IBM in 2003, he has built and led consulting & systems integration practices, and was instrumental in introducing global delivery into the local business. In addition, Shane was responsible for transitioning application management services with large outsourced clients into IBM. His business and technology consulting leadership role at a time when IBM was expanding across the African continent has included influencing and informing strategic business decisions, as well as building digital solutions with clients from a diverse cross-industry base, including Banks, Telecommunications, Insurance, Automotive, Healthcare, Travel and Transport, Distribution and Public Sector departments and agencies.

    In 2012 Shane transitioned into a Business Development Executive role where he has led strategic growth initiatives for IBM across large managed services deals, mobile, cloud, big data, analytics, and IBM’s Smarter Industry Solutions portfolios. In 2014 Shane took on the challenge to position IBM into the rapidly evolving Media and Entertainment Industry across Middle East & Africa, and is currently leading cognitively enabled, hybrid-cloud based industry solutions and digital transformation initiatives, using design thinking & agile methods, from IBM South Africa.

    Johann Bracun is in the role of a Solutions Consultant Leader, focusing mostly on Middle East & Africa. Beside these responsibilities, he is acting as Subject Matter Expert in a worldwide role.

    Johann has joined IBM through the Unica acquisition. With Unica background he brings wealth of experience into the Watson Marketing brand. Prior to Unica Johann has spent more than 15 years in the Marketing Automation and CRM business with various vendors. Johann is based in Munich / Germany.

He has often been in management positions both at European and at Worldwide levels within the teams he worked with.

    Alfredo Micarelli has earned a master degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Rome and his graduation thesis was awarded by the IBM Rome Scientific Center and presented at an ECMA by the University of Rome in 1986. He was certified by IBM and ICMCI as a Management Consulting Consultant with a specialization in Business Process Design in 2006.

    Kevin is responsible for the overall direction for IBM’s portfolio of products and services to protect customers from cyber threats. Kevin recently led worldwide product marketing and has been instrumental in building IBM’s Security business unit over the last five years – helping grow it into one of the largest security companies in the world. A 16-year veteran of the Security industry, Kevin joined IBM from Internet Security Systems (acquired by IBM in 2006), where he held multiple leadership positions in product management and engineering.
