Welcome to Issue 19 of the IBM Africa Magazine!
In this issue we discuss the importance of infrastructure development, availability of finance, the role of women entrepreneurs, and how mobile technologies are underpinning broad societal changes (Page 16 – 17). As well investigate the discussions held at the Global Innovation Outlook Forum, where captains of industry, leading academics and high ranking government officials descended upon Johannesburg to share innovative ideas on developing Africa.
It is clear that Africa's Time Has Come.
One of the salient points highlighted at the forum was the state of the global economy, which is in flux at the moment due to changes in economic models and shifts in global sourcing, all of which will shape Africa’s future. The forum also emphasized the need for Africa to play a more prominent role globally.
Read more about the issues tackled by The GIO Forum in this issue (Page 20- 21).
We also feature Solutions for the Public Sector, specifically regarding Home Affairs ( Page 32 ) and skills shortages taxing the Public Sector ( Page 34. )
