The Start Jam is now closed.
HRH The Prince of Wales encourages you to join the IBM Start Jam to explore how businesses can put sustainability at the heart of the strategy.
A modern approach to sustainability in business
Sustainability is good for the planet – and good for business. But to be truly sustainable – and to be seen to be sustainable – requires more than just new procurement or recycling policies: it can mean far-reaching cultural and behavioural changes, new skills and new strategic direction.
A web event with leaders from the UK and Ireland
Building on the success of the IBM Summit at Start last year, Start Jam is a web-based event that will provide an unrivalled opportunity for hundreds of leaders from the UK and Ireland, to pool their knowledge and experience to explore and evolve the next generation of sustainable business strategies.
The objective is to move forward from the examination of the value and importance of sustainability in business, the pitfalls of “greenwash” window-dressing, to the questions around how we affect the strategic and cultural changes required to drive a genuine transformation in sustainability.
Building a blueprint for sustainable business
As part of its ongoing commitment to the social exchange of best practice ideas, IBM will summarise key findings and highlight the creative ideas generated by Start Jam to share with participants. This output will serve as a collaboratively created blueprint to help organisations turn sustainability into a growth strategy.
Start Jam topics
The IBM Summit at Start brought diverse audiences together over nine days largely aligned with IBM's smarter planet initiatives. Although each day was different, a number of common themes emerged across all days and developing these themes into hundreds of actionable ideas is what the Start Jam is all about.
It is important to note that the whole Jam will be focused on How! How do we as businesses influence consumer behaviours? How do we optimise resource? How do we build the right skills and so on. Be clear - the Jam is not just another talking shop and the forum facilitators will be trained to drive discussion threads to actions, collaborations, projects, and commitments.
The main themes that came out of the summit are represented in the six forums used to structure the jam:
- Driving Cultural and Behavioural Change
- Managing Demand Intelligently
- The Collaboration Imperative
- Understanding Data (Intelligence/Analytics)
- Transforming Business
- Re-building our National Infrastructure
