Day 6 – Monday 13th September 2010
Smarter Supply Chains for a Sustainable Future
The growing demand for supply chain solutions
Building a smarter supply chain process is key to creating a sustainable future. Currently, many of the world’s producers don’t follow consistent standards for sustainability, quality, process and accountability. It’s a costly mistake - in the US, suppliers of consumer products lose a staggering $40BN annually (3.5% of sales) due to inefficiencies.
The Summit explored the combined role that government, NGOs and business can play in delivering smarter supply chain solutions. Plus how business models will need to change, including what the competitive advantages should be and how innovation can lead the move towards sustainable supply processes.
Thought leaders in sustainable supply chains addressed the key issues including track and trace, common standards, and how to engage consumers in changing behaviour.
