Smart finance can pay dividends for sustainable business

We need to move sustainability beyond a ‘compliance’ issue towards a driver of growth and value. But how do we convince the investment community and also overcome the short-term mindset which tends to avoid the risk and longer term nature of sustainable growth?

Smart financial guidance is key to demonstrating that there is business value in sustainability. Working together with CFOs from UK business and investment bankers, asset managers, HMRC and the Carbon Trust, we explored how a sustainable approach can affect a company’s ability to borrow money and raise finance. Also considered was whether corporate “green bonds” may emerge as a new asset class – plus many more issues in building a smarter financial culture.
