Carbon Disclosure Project 2009: Global Mining - The Adaptation Challenge. Building business resilience to inevitable climate change. Thurs, 28 Jan 2010, 9 a.m. - 10 a.m. British Standard Time (BST). Register for the webinar

IBM is pleased to be sponsoring the creation of 4 reports written by Acclimatise that reveal how well companies around the world are adapting to climate change, based on their responses to the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) 2008 questionnaire.

Many climate change reports focus on mitigation - the reduction of future carbon emissions. These 4 reports are different because they focus on the inevitable climate change caused by past emissions and the need for companies to adapt to these changes. Whilst mitigation must remain integral to a company’s response to climate change, organisations need to understand how they must adapt to take account of the new or enhanced risks resulting from inevitable climate change - or indeed adapt to take on new opportunities. Adaptation alongside mitigation is the only responsible approach to take.

Each report also provides a set of 10 "Prepare-Adapt" questions to help companies take the right steps towards building corporate resilience to inevitable climate change.

The four reports are:

Acclimatise - is a specialist risk management company providing world-class expertise in dealing with climate risks.

Carbon Disclosure Project - is an independent not-for-profit organisation holding the largest database of primary corporate climate change information in the world on behalf of 475 investors with assets of $55 trillion.
