IBM executed various volunteer projects worldwide in its centennial year.
IBM Turkey completed one of the most comprehensive Centennial projects by virtualising 100 masterpieces from the collection of Hatay Archeological Museum. Known as Antioch in ancient times, Turkish city of Hatay possesses one of the largest mosaic collections in the world.
The project, led by IBM Turkey, was performed thanks to the volunteer support of the employees of IBM Turkey, Index Group, Ozyegin University, 32 Bit Computer Services, Kanguru Sanat, Marjinal Porter Novelli. Photographs taken by an IBM alumni Fatih Demirhan, who is now a well-respected photographer.
This volunteer project aims to share this rich cultural heritage with Turkey and with the world. As a symbolic gesture to IBM’s Centennial the Virtual Museum lauched with 100 masterpieces, with the participation Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism.
