Description This course is designed for those who will be using OmniFind Discovery Edition as a tool for locating desired content within a variety of data sources. Students will learn how to tune content sources to better define desired results, and generate reports that provide statistical information about queries submitted to the OmniFind Discovery server.
Audience This course is designed for administrators and business users of a OmniFind Discovery Edition production enterprise.
Prerequisites Students must be familiar with the following concepts:
  • Database
  • Application Servers (TomCat)
  • Web programming languages and concepts, such as CGI, Java; XML
  • Scripting
  • Using OS command line commands
Objectives After completing this course, you should be able to:
  • Describe OmniFind Discovery Edition's capabilities
  • Tune and customize both Web content and database content projects
  • Generate and interpret reports
  • Apply report results to project tuning

Tuning Concepts for Web Content Sources
  • Develop an ontology
  • Create and manage concepts
  • Add synonyms to a concept
  • Manage stopwords, stemming, and respelling rules
  • Generate acronyms
  • Use a glossary content source for direct answers
  • View system changes

Working With Business Rules
  • Create result set portlets for displaying dynamic results for business rules
  • Create HTML portlets for displaying static results for business rules
  • Write business rules that perform auxiliary actions based on user query characteristics
