The Portable Shopping System (PSS) from Symbol is a complete solution for giving customers in retail operations a better shopping experience. Consisting of a rugged mobile computer, wireless infrastructure components, application software, device dispenser/checkout station and a printer, PSS allows you to quickly deploy the latest in shopping convenience for your customers.

With PSS, your customers confirm prices, scan items they want to purchase and see a running total of their purchases. Using wireless locating technology, you are able to suggest purchases when the customer is in a specific area of your store ? or when paired with a loyalty program, you may offer on-the-spot purchase discounts.

PSS allows a customer the convenience of self-scanning items to be purchased while in the aisle, eliminating the need for shoppers to wait in check out lines. Customers pick up a hand-held scanner when entering the store and use it to scan and tally their purchases while shopping.

When customers are done they simply pay for their purchases and they’re on their way. It is the creation of express lanes for large baskets. In this way the store’s best customers get a quicker checkout, saving time, and with the potential addition of specifically targeted coupons into their shopping list, they can save money.
