Ian M. Steinberg
Global Crisis Management, IBM Global Technology Services
Mr. Steinberg is a senior leader in IBM’s Global Technology Services organization. He is responsible for developing, selling and delivering business and technology-based solutions designed to meet a wide variety of customer and industry needs, including continuity and resiliency during times of disruption and catastrophe. He was recently responsible for the overall market intelligence, definition, strategic direction and business partner program of the Global Crisis Management solution portfolio, housed in IBM’s Business Continuity and Resiliency Services (BCRS) business line. This part of IBM’s portfolio draws on IBM’s proud history and experience in responding to numerous worldwide disasters, and adds innovation in the form of professional, repeatable and valuable frameworks for addressing some of today’s most critical challenges around preparing for, responding to and recovering from disasters of all types and magnitudes; thereby delivering crisis management solutions to the global marketplace with the quality, value and innovation expected from the IBM Corporation.
Prior to Mr. Steinberg’s current role on the Crisis Management Team, he was both a Business Strategy and Change consultant and Business Transformation specialist where he helped lead a number of cross-IBM internal and customer-driven external transformation efforts, including Public Sector’s successful launch and incubation of its Business Transformation Outsourcing business line. Following this incubation, Mr. Steinberg joined Global Technology Services as a Strategy and Business Development leader in emerging growth opportunities and innovative labor and asset based business models. He has over fifteen years of thought leadership and experience in designing, building and implementing business and technology solutions that solve complex problems and drive sustainable performance results and growth in a variety of functional spaces.
Mr. Steinberg has been a thought leader in applying innovative business approaches and commercial technologies to the unique requirements of a broad base of customers in his career. He has a deep understanding of business design, process, application and infrastructure related requirements, business models and real world operational environments faced in the field. Throughout Mr. Steinberg’s IBM career, he has worked in support of government, commercial and IBM internal objectives in a variety of globally based roles, interfacing with all IBM geographies (US, Canada, Latin America, Europe, Middle East and Asia). He has consistently demonstrated the ability to lead emerging growth areas, identify and motivate the personnel who can support real world environments where performance, cost and continuity are critical for customer success and develop and execute solutions that balance the best available technologies with the demands of rapid implementation and delivery of timely results.
Mr. Steinberg studied Civil Engineering at The Johns Hopkins University in addition to attending an architectural summer program at Harvard University, prior to receiving his Masters of Business Administration from Georgetown University.
