I studied Architecture and acquired my IT qualifications with IBM.
I worked 16 years for Monsanto in different functions, including head of IT for the Antwerp plant and Project Manager of EMEA Finance IT.
I was then recruited by Hoechst to take the position of Director, I.S. for their Belgium-Luxembourg organization, a position which I executed for 4 years. From 1989 until 1991 I was partner of a leading IBM dealership.
Then, for the next 14 years, I joined Bandag, a U.S. tyre retreading company, where I held a dual position: I was head of the I.S department for EMEA and IT Director for Global I.S. with a responsibility for all locations outside of North America, i.e. South America, Asia Pacific, Africa and Europe. I proudly look back on my achievements but especially to this last position where I was able to consolidate and integrate global I.S. services and to create an I.S. function that fully supported the business. Not limited to administrative functions, but where I was able to help automate most business processes including customer and supplier bonding and to deliver I.S. solutions for the franchise organization that where part of the product offering to Bandag customers. Within the Global I.S Board we achieved a leading edge position in IT Governance practices.
In 2000, I initiated and was co-founder of the CIO Forum, a network and eco-system for the Belgian business segment that links IT professionals with IT service providers and businesses with as mission to bring value to the IT profession. I was its president for the first three years and, today, act as its secretary. The CIO Forum currently links more than 60 leading companies with focus on I.S. strategies.
Since nearly three years, I operate as an independent consultant, basically on one assignment with Umicore as interim Business Support Manager for the EMEA region, leading a team of nearly 80 I.S. staff and an operating budget of 20 mio €.
