Our history of progress
We have always believed that IBM is more than just a business. When you look at our history, you see that we have had a real and lasting impact on the world because of our unique character—our core values, our behavior and our performance as IBMers. The character of a company -- the stamp it puts on its products, services and the marketplace -- is shaped and defined over time. It evolves. It deepens. It is expressed in an ever-changing corporate culture, in transformational strategies, and in new and compelling offerings for customers.
IBM Basics
IBM is a values-based enterprise of individuals who create and apply technology to make the world better. Today, about 400,000 IBMers around the world invent and integrate hardware, software and services to enable forward-thinking enterprises, institutions and people everywhere to succeed on a smarter planet.
Our core values
"In today's world, where everyone is so interconnected and interdependent, it is simply essential that we work for each other's success. If we're going to solve the biggest, thorniest and most widespread problems in business and society, we have to innovate in ways that truly matter. And we have to do all this by taking personal responsibility for all of our relationships - with clients, colleagues, partners, investors and the public at large. This is IBM's mission as an enterprise, and a goal toward which we hope to work with many others, in our industry and beyond." Eileen Shanahan, HR Director, IBM Ireland
- Dedication to every client's success
- Innovation that matters, for our company and for the world
- Trust and personal responsibility in all relationships
Diversity
IBM has a long history of commitment to Diversity. Over the years, our strategies and policies have developed to a point where we see our diversity as a competitive advantage and consciously building diverse teams helps us deliver the best results for our clients.
Diversity Councils and Diversity Networking Groups at various levels in the IBM organisation are key elements in managing IBM's Diversity Strategy. In Ireland we established a Diversity Council a few years ago which is currently chaired by Peter O'Neill, CGM IBM Ireland . The role of Ireland's Diversity Councils is to increase the focus on our local and/or unique diversity issues and to ensure that IBM in Ireland's workforce represents an environment which visibly encourages and values the contributions and differences of employees from various constituencies.
