Michael Paier is responsible for IBM’s business in South East Europe, a region covering more than 10 countries, including Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Romania, Serbia and Slovenia. Michael was named in this position in 2011. Prior to that he was leading IBM’s Business Partner Organization for Central and Eastern Europe. From 2001 onwards he has held a number of management and executive positions, developing business and channel sales in IBM across Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Dejan Podgorsek joined IBM in 1992 as AIX system engineer, then he took over HW sales and in year 2000, he become IBM HW sales manager. In 2010 Dejan took international position and was leading the team in CEE for Growth Initiatives. In 2013, he joined IBM Developer Relations team and now he is leading the Business Development & ISVs in the SEE region. Part of the role is also leading IBM Innovation Center Ljubljana where the team can help you build, market and sell your solutions. In IBM Innovation Center you can test solutions, engage with IBM Watson IOT and other IBM cognitive solutions, Analytics, Cloud, close deals with your clients, collaborate with IBM, Business Partners, academic leaders, and IT professionals.

Since 2014 Marcus Kottinger supports European IBM Partners in executing projects related to digital transformation on behalf of IBM‘s Watson IoT brand. Core industries that he has supported are energy&utilities, telecommunications and public infrastructure management companies, mainly acting in Smart Cities area. Before joining IBM he worked at Siemens in the field of energy and asset management for Europe, Middle East and Africa to optimize back-end process to achieve sustainable energy consumption and efficient asset utilization in Siemens locations in Europe.

Jozef Gemela has more than 10 years of international experience in strategic business consulting and market research across Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa (CEMA). As associate VP for consulting, Gemela is responsible for developing and managing consulting projects for all ICT technology groups and geographies across the region. He has led and contributed to numerous large consulting engagements focused on strategic advisory services, go-to-market strategies, partnering and strategic alliances, feasibility studies, national ICT development plans, and integrated marketing communication. The consulting engagements developed and managed by Gemela cover a broad range of ICT technologies and ICT-related business models and are designed to assist clients in expanding their businesses in the region, identifying and leveraging growth opportunities, and penetrating emerging market segments.

Raoul is IBM’s Banking and Financial Services Leading Executive for the Markets of Europe and CEE. Raoul is responsible for building and leading strategic collaborations with clients - realising profound transformational changes to their future operating models. Raoul is a deep banking expert with first hand experience of helping Banks transform for a Digital and Cognitive Era. Addressing platform, data driven, digital and capital light structures. Driving three critical dimensions at the same time: enhanced customer/market focus and flexibility and reducing the (fixed) operational cost base through improved and rationalized efficiency - underpinned by a high performance culture. Raoul brings cross industry knowledge from his time with IBM in Asia Pacific (Shanghai), leading the Industrial Sector across the IBM global Growth Markets Unit (GMU - 100+ countries).

Christoph is an experienced founder, investor, and product manager in the areas of converging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, Blockchain, Cloud and Internet of Things. He’s focusing on Deep Technology as partner at IBM Ventures, and applied Artificial Intelligence as the initiator of City.AI. He’s also an advisor and investor in startups such as Asset Mapping, Cupenya, Undeveloped (Exit: Epik), LiveOnDemand, and Letz.do, and mentor at various startup accelerators and venture firms in Europe such as Portugal Ventures, TechStars, Rockstart, Startup Wise Guys, Startupbootcamp, Wayra, and other technology programs.

Bruce Schneier is an internationally renowned security technologist, called a “security guru” by the Economist. He is the author of 14 books – including the New York Times best-seller “Data and Goliath: The Hidden Battles to Collect Your Data and Control Your World” – as well as hundreds of articles, essays, and academic papers. His influential newsletter “Crypto-Gram” and his blog “Schneier on Security” are read by over 250,000 people. Schneier is a fellow at the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University, a fellow at the Belfer Center at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, and a board member of the Electronic Frontier Foundation. He is also a special advisor to IBM Security.

Moray leads our Procurement Offerings globally and in addition manages our strategic partner alliances for procurement technology. Moray has been with IBM for 28 years and in that time has performed various operational management roles in IT, Global SAP deployment, Supply Chain, HR operations, and Manufacturing, including leading the move of European Manufacturing Supply Chain to China. His experience spans Europe, The Americas and Asia and includes Supply Chain and Procurement consulting, Process Re-engineering in a Shared Services environment with both private and public sector clients, Solution Design, Contract Support, Business Development and Sales., Offering leadership and strategic alliance management. Moray is passionate about procurement and regularly speaks at external events around the globe. He is married with two children and has an MBA from Strathclyde University.

Norbert Sepp received his BA from the Budapest University of Economic Sciences, and his MSC in Electronical Engineering from the Budapest Technical University. He has held various positions in IBM since 1996: SW Customer Engineer for AS/400, Field Technical Sales Support for iSeries, later Power Systems, Regional Technical Manager, Client Technical Specialist, IT Architect, Lab Services Consultant and Watson Ambassador/Cognitive Business SME. He is a regular speaker at conferences.

Stefan is a Strategy Consultant and IT Architect in the IBM Systems Group. His 15 years of expert knowledge of the strategic IT infrastructure design and implementation is backed up by expertise in managing complex and sensitive projects accomplished by service and support delivery. His present focus is managing IT projects for clients and businesses to help them keep up with advancements in technology and increase their efficiency and profits.

We've created a world where information technology permeates our economies, social interactions, and intimate selves. The combination of mobile, cloud computing, the Internet of Things, persistent computing, and autonomy are resulting in something different. This World-Sized Web promises great benefits, but is also vulnerable to a host of new threats. Threats from users, criminals, corporations, and governments. Threats that can now result in physical damage and even death. This talk looks back at what we've learned from past attempts to secure these systems, and forward at what technologies, laws, regulations, economic incentives, and social norms we need to secure them in the future.

Data is the ‘oil’ of digital transformation and there is no digital transformation without unlocking the full potential of data. While most of CEE organization are still focusing on the traditional business intelligence approaches focused on what happened in the past, progressive organizations have started employing real-time and predictive analytics across different use cases and industries. In this presentation, we will focus on the role of cognitive systems in real-time analytics enabled by the uptake of IoT and predictive analytics enabling organizations staying ahead of key competitors.

The company is a role model of effective proces design where the clients can leverage highly personalised online services while the sales force can focus on areas where human creativity is indispensable. 

Andrej is a founder and CEO of Creatim, an IBM partner agency specializing in IBM WebSpehre Commerce and related technologies. An architect by original profession, Andrej was always attracted by the human-technology interaction. He has a rich mix of experience in digital strategies, user experience, and e-commerce. He has overseen the development of online solutions for ExtraLux, Intersport, Mercator and many B2B companies in Slovenia and abroad.

In five years ExtraLux has transformed its business from a traditional company to a highly successful digital business. The company is a role model of effective proces design where the clients can leverage highly personalised online services while the sales force can focus on areas where human creativity is indispensable. 

Simon started his career in sales when he was 18. Always eager to learn new sales skills he became an expert in network marketing, customer acquisition and consultative sales. In ExtraLux he was swiftly promoted to sales director, where he co-created the company’s innovative sales model and paved its path to digital transformation. Simon says the new digital model has given him freedom (time and money) so he is now a passionate advocate of online business models. Today ExtraLux earns the majority of its revenue via IBM-based B2B commerce solution.

Dr. Marko Vukolić is a Research Staff Member at the Blockchain and Industry Platforms group at IBM Research - Zurich. Previously, he was a faculty at EURECOM, France, and a visiting faculty at ETH Zurich, Switzerland. He received his PhD in distributed systems from EPFL in 2008 and his dipl. ing. degree in telecommunications from School of Electrical Engineering, University of Belgrade in 2001. His research interests lie in the broad area of distributed systems, including blockchain and distributed ledgers, cloud computing security, distributed storage and fault-tolerance. He is one of the principal architects of Hyperledger Fabric open source blockchain. 

As the current operational returns in the financial services sector have come under an unprecedented squeeze for many reasons, all financial institutions are looking at their current operating model. At one hand to (dramatically) on how to bend the cost curve and at the other hand on how to better serve their (potential) clients in a differentiated way and drive growth. Deciding on the the way on how to re-architect the current operating model is being discussed in many board rooms. Most financial institutions would respond with announcing a digital strategy and refer to becoming a digital bank, but we will argue that to drive enhanced operational efficiency as well superior customer centricity, a cognitive backbone in the operating model is required.

Alex Rutter is Managing Director for The Weather Company, an IBM Business across Europe, Middle East and Africa and also serves on The Weather Company’s Executive Leadership Team. He is responsible for the strategy and management of both the Consumer and Business-to-Business divisions across EMEA, and oversees teams focused on delivering Industry solutions for the Aviation, Media, Energy and Transport sectors.

As well as expanding audience footprint of the world’s fifth largest mobile application and mobile advertising platform via The Weather Channel Application. Helping to enhance retail and consumer advertising with next-generation products built on Weather’s value proposition to connect businesses to consumers through weather and climate.

Prior to his current role, Alex was Chief of Staff for the IBM Analytics Business based in IBM Corporate HQ in New York. He has an extensive career in sales and sales management. In 2016, Alex was appointed to sit on the 35 under 35 Committee Board for the Confederation of British Industry (CBI), helping consult on Brexit and impact to Industry.

When not working, Alex can be found cycling or playing rugby, He lives in London with his partner and daughter.
