Welcome to IBM South Africa
IBM has considered South Africa to be one of its key markets since the inception of its first office in 1952. It is a significant employer in South Africa, and has been officially certified by the Top Employers Institute for its exceptional employee offerings. IBM has assisted the country vastly over the decades by providing education programs and volunteering hours in communities it works and operates in.
South Africa's export-based economy is the largest and most developed in Africa, and grew at an average of 4.5 percent year-on-year between 2002 and 2008. During that period of growth, IBM established its Integrated Delivery Center in Johannesburg, which provides virtual and professional IT support to outsourced clients in Africa and Western Europe.
In May 2014, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of its mainframe in South Africa, IBM opened a Mainframe Cloud Innovation Hub to extend its capabilities in delivering high capacity technology solutions to South African companies and government organizations. The project was a first of its kind on the continent. IBM works with a wide range of clients in South Africa across the financial services, telecommunications, retail, healthcare, and public sectors.
