This page contains information for schools attending, or wishing to
attend the Bright Sparks event in 2008.
The Bright Sparks event is currently only open to the member schools of the
Southampton Local Education Authority's 'Gifted and Talented Initiative'.
Invitations to all of the member schools of the 'Gifted and Talented Initiative'
will be sent out closer to the event.
Each school should provide six Year 8 students for the event. Selection of these
students should be in coordination with the 'Gifted and Talented Initiative'.
The students will not be placed in a team with the other students from their school,
instead they will work in a team with members from other schools.
The students will be placed into their teams upon arrival at the event.
The students must be accompanied by a minimum of one teacher. If more than one teacher
wishes to attend the event, then please let us know in advance so that we can
ensure that enough facilities are available.
Permission forms will be sent to your school after replying to the invitation.
These must be signed by the parent or guardian of each team member and
returned to the Blue Fusion organising team in advance of the event.
A provisional timetable will be sent to your school closer to the event.
This will also be published in this area of the site for reference.
Provisionally we expect registration for the event to be at 9:30am,
and that the event will run until 5:00pm.
However, we will confirm this schedule in future communications with
attending schools closer to the event.
The 2008 event will be held at IBM Hursley.

Please leave ample travelling time to reach IBM Hursley for the registration
time, as arriving later may cause the students to miss some of the activities.
