As a Pre-Sales Specialist, you will work within our Sales organisation alongside our sales teams. Pre-Sales specialists have a combination of technical product knowledge combined with client facing skills so that they can provide technical advice and guidance to our sales teams in support of our clients’ business challenges. Client engagements can last anything from a few days to several months and you will participate in client meetings, give presentations on technical topics, design solutions and assist IBM’s clients to evaluate and successfully deploy software or hardware solutions.

You will need a keen interest in business and technology and be prepared to develop your knowledge to fully understand technical products and solutions. However, most importantly, you must be able to relate technical concepts to non – technical people. You need to be confident, a great communicator and have excellent problem solving, team working and interpersonal skills. Technical expertise and previous relevant work experience is unnecessary as we will provide you with all the technical training required

Due to the client facing nature of the work, you must also be flexible and willing to travel.

You will begin your IBM career with our new hire induction program, lasting several weeks. You will be given an introduction to technology fundamentals and project management skills. For 2 weeks of your induction, you will participate in a simulated project focussing on client facing and project management skills.

You will be assigned a Professional Development Manager (PDM) in Foundation. You will put together an individually tailored training programme with your PDM which will include specific technical training that your role requires eg. Websphere, Rational, Java, in addition to any personal development training that you may need including Presenting with Confidence, Influencing Skills for Business etc.
