Service Management

  • - What it involves

    Service Management professionals are responsible for the end to end delivery of services to IBM’s clients. They are the bridge between the IBM technical delivery teams and our clients. Often they are based at client sites and they are the main focal point for client issues and are there to ensure that what IBM delivers is of the highest quality.

    You will supervise, coordinate and maintain, on a daily basis, the levels of service agreed with and expected by the client keeping a constant focus on improving the performance of the services provided. You will also support the Lead Service Manager and Delivery Project Executive, and typically manage the delivery of key components to the client - Incident / Problem Management, Change / Release Management, Service Level Management, IT Service Continuity, Availability Management and Business Controls.

  • + What we look for

    You will need to be client and service orientated and have strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills. You will need to have a logical approach to your work, have excellent problem solving and team working skills. Technical expertise and previous relevant work experience is unnecessary as we will provide you with all the technical training required.

    Organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple items at one time is essential to this role.

  • + Training

    You will begin your IBM career with our new hire induction program, lasting several weeks. You will be given an introduction to technology fundamentals and project management skills. For 2 weeks of your induction, you will participate in a simulated project focussing on client facing and project management skills. There will also be an opportunity to take professional qualifications such as ITIL foundation.

    You will be assigned a Professional Development Manager (PDM) in Foundation. You will put together an individually tailored training programme with your PDM which will include specific technical training that your role requires, in addition to any personal development training that you may need including Presenting with Confidence, Influencing Skills for Business etc.
