Asset Management Consultant
-
What it involves
Working as an Asset Management Consultant within IBM Global Business Services, you will learn about the asset management lifecycle, management strategies, procurement, outsourcing and the design of organisations and processes. In reality this involves spending the majority of your time on client sites at various locations throughout the UK working in small teams (generally less than 10 IBM consultants) to analyse processes, review areas where improvement may be possible, seek solutions and demonstrate the benefits to the client organisation. The assets that you work with include real estate and facilities, plant, production and other physical infrastructure and mobile assets. Your ultimate aim will be to better manage the asset management lifecycle for our clients – to reduce their risk, costs and give them greater flexibility to cope with change.

What we look for
You need to have a degree in Engineering, Surveying, Economics, Mathematics or a similar subject with significant numerical and analytical content. A further degree such as an MBA is desirable, though not essential. You must have good inter-personal skills, strong numerical skills and an analytical approach to solving problems. You need to be a clear communicator, both orally and in writing and be adaptable and motivated to develop further in a fast moving, multi-disciplinary environment.
As the work is mainly client based, you will need to be flexible in terms of location and mobility and be prepared to work across the UK and Europe, delivering projects for our major clients.

Training

You will be assigned a Professional Development Manager (PDM) in Foundation. You will put together an individually tailored training programme with your PDM which will include specific technical training that your role requires in addition to any personal development training that you may need including Presenting with Confidence, Influencing Skills for Business etc.
