A Smarter Planet

We are working to build a smarter planet. A place where things, people and systems all work, talk, listen and understand each other. A place where billions of people will work and live better.

The problems our planet faces are well-known: A financial crisis. Climate disruption. Water supply. Energy production. Traffic congestion. What all these problems show is that today, like never before, we're all truly connected - economically, socially and technically. Think about it - when a crisis occurs on one part of the planet, it can bring problems to another part, within days or even hours.

So what does this mean? Well, the way we see it is like this. Intelligent computers power things we wouldn't even recognize as computers - cars, appliances, cameras, roadways...even pharmaceuticals, livestock and people. This means that everything about the world today can become more digitally aware, connected and smart.

And how does this relate to IBM?

Well, because of our depth of resources, expertise and experience with the most forward thinking businesses and governments around the world AND because we employ the smartest people around, it means that we are in a great position to help the planet become smarter.

Take a look at the IBM Smarter Planet YouTube Channel to find out more about how we’re helping to make the planet smarter.
