Welcome
A gap year. It's the beginning of your future and it needs to be amazing.
Well, IBM can offer you a gap year that's truly unique. Ask yourself:
Do I want to gain some work experience in my gap year?
Do I want to develop my business skills and knowledge?
Do I want to go travelling?
The IBM Futures Scheme offers you the chance to do all of this. After working in an exciting and challenging role within IBM for 9 months gaining valuable work experience and developing your skills and knowledge, you then get to decide how you want to spend your final 3 months.
So, if you want to get some fantastic work experience and be one step ahead of the game when you start university, plus fulfil any travel aspirations you may have – The IBM Futures Programme is for you.
How does the Futures Programme work?
You’ll work with us at IBM for 9 months, and you then get a choice of options for the final 3 months of your placement.
You’ll spend your first 9 months (August to May) on a challenging and exciting work placement. You could be working in any area across our business, from business to finance, marketing to software development. Whatever role you do on your placement with us you’ll be working for a world leader, and be respected and rewarded for your contribution to our business.
Now this is the unique bit, after your 9 months with us you have the freedom to decide what you want to do in the final 3 months of your gap year:
- If you really love the role you’ve been doing you can continue in this role until the end of your placement.
- If you fancy a new challenge, you can move into a different role in the UK.
- You can even move into a role in an IBM office outside of the UK.
- If you want to do something for a good cause you can undertake a UK based charity project.
- For the adventurers among you, you may wish to take part in an expedition with Raleigh International, where you get to live and work abroad.
- Or, if you just want to head off into the unknown for three months, you are free to travel in your own way
The choice is yours.
