Welcome to your new life
So, you’re looking to take a year out before going to university? Are you looking for a mix of work experience to build your skills before university and perhaps do some travelling?

The IBM Futures programme gives you everything you could want from a year out. First, you'll spend 9 months (August to May) on a challenging and exciting work placement. Working in any area across our business, you'll be working for a world leader and be respected and rewarded for your contribution to our business.

You can then decide what you want to do for the next 3 months before you embark on your university career. The options are as follows:

- You can stay in your current role or move into a new role within IBM UK or you might also look to moving to a role at an IBM office outside the UK.

- You can take part in an expedition with Raleigh International. Raleigh International’s expeditions give people the chance to live and work on expeditions abroad.

- If you want to stay closer to home, you may decide to undertake a UK based charity project.

- Finally, you may choose to travel the world and take 3 months out before heading off to university.
