The IBM culture is one that prizes intelligence and innovation. IBMers are inquisitive people motivated by high achievement. And it shows.

In addition to five Nobel prizes, IBM researchers have been recognized with seven U.S. National Medals of Technology, five National Medals of Science and 21 memberships in the National Academy of Sciences.

IBM Research has more than 59 members of the National Academy of Engineering and well over 300 industry organisation fellows. The company has seen eight inductees in the National Inventors Hall of Fame. And, for each of the past 15 years (1993-2007), IBM has been granted more U.S. patents than any other company. IBM has invested approximately $5 billion per year in research, development and engineering since 1996, and has a current active portfolio of over 40,000 patents worldwide.
