At the IBM Delivery Centre Poland Wroclaw you’ll have the chance to put your skills to work helping our clients get the most out of their IT investment and have a direct impact on our clients’ performance. Our IT Specialists will provide server, database, network and application management services in IBM customers' environments and technical support:
Level 1
Technical Support will involve direct contact with users and clients, helping them to solve IT problems that occur directly at the user's workstation or on their company's servers; if a problem cannot be immediately solved, it will be logged and escalated to Level 2 Technical Support for further analysis and resolution;
Level 2
Technical Support will focus on making changes to software or hardware configuration in order to resolve a problem. If resolving a problem requires changes in the code, then it is escalated to Level 3 Support (for example, to the vendor of the software or hardware product).
The IBM Delivery Centre Poland in Wroclaw will also provide implementation services, project management services, and enterprise IT process management services.

Junior & Experienced IT Specialist
IT Specialists represent IBM's ability to design, implement and maintain the complex solutions needed to solve our customers’ business problems.
As an IT Specialist you will be working with our customers on a daily basis solve their most urgent & challenging problems. As such, you will need to develop capabilities in three major areas:
- Client Focus – services, technical sales or technical support.
- Technical focus – systems and infrastructure, software, or business integration solutions.
- IT Plus – contributions and impacts on the business.
Senior IT Specialists will need to demonstrate relevant experience in one of the following areas:
- system administration for Linux, AIX, HP-UX, Sun-Solaris, OS/400 (i/OS), z-Series, Windows Server (Advanced Server 2000, 2003), VMWare, and other operating systems
- database administration for DB2, Oracle, MS SQL, Informix, Sybase, and other databases
- E-mail system administration for Lotus Domino Notes and Exchange messaging systems
- Collaboration solution knowledge
- Tivoli (Netview, Tivoli Storage Manager, Tivoli Monitoring, TEC, etc.)
- Microsoft Systems Management (SMS and MOM) or similar products from other vendors
- Storage Area Network experience
- Mainframe software development
- SAP Basis, Oracle Finance, and other ERP knowledge

- Accreditation - validates that the new IT Specialist has built up the appropriate level of the fundamental skills of the profession, helps define the path for further growth in an IT Specialist role, and is a quality assurance process and logical precursor to Certification and Senior Certification.
- Certification - validates that the IT Specialist has built experience and deep skills in the chosen role. In a sense, it provides a quality assurance status in the individual's ability to create architecture solutions without assistance.
- Recertification – you must be recertified every three years once you have been certified.
- Senior certification - validates that the Senior IT Specialist has achieved set business and technical leadership capabilities that mark the individual as a technical leader in the community.

Project Manager
Project Management covers a broad range of roles that apply a variety of project management processes and tools. They are involved with leading projects and are accountable for their success. Some of their responsibilities include project scoping and planning, developing cost structure, tracking and reporting deliverables, and contract and risk management. The Project Management roles can include Quality Assurance, Measurements and Reporting Analysts, software process improvement, Project Office management, Project administration and many others.
Career Advancement
The project management profession is one of several IBM global professions established to ensure availability and quality of professional and technical skills within IBM.The focus on project management in IBM was sharpened significantly in 1996, when IBM committed itself to "become a project-based business that applies and integrates project management into all core business processes and systems”. The Project Management Centre of Excellence (PM/COE), established in 1997, is charged with ensuring that IBM’s commitment to becoming a project-based enterprise is achieved. The PM/COE’s Professional Development initiative includes worldwide leadership of IBM’s project management profession, its qualification processes and IBM’s relationship with PMI (Project Management Institute), and project management skills development through education and mentoring.
The IBM Project Management Profession Guide provides guidance on areas such career progression, key milestones and advice on the education needed to achieve the required skills for Accreditation or Certification.
- Accreditation is the process by which a line manager reviews and verifies that professionals have successfully met requirement for an Associate or Advisory career milestone. If the requirements are met, the professional is ‘accredited’ at the appropriate level.
- Certification is the process by which the Project Management Certification Board reviews and verifies that professionals have successfully met requirements for Senior PM, Executive PM or Executive Management career milestones.
- Recertification – you must be recertified every three years once you have been certified.
The progression from level to level of the Project Management Profession spans Associate, Advisory, Senior, Executive and Executive Management.

IT Architect
The role of the IT Architect involves listening working with clients to understand their business requirements and define the structure of information technology solutions. As an IT Architect, you will assist clients on their hardware and software infrastructure and help them decide which platform is best for their applications. You may also lead the technical sales team in their proposal activity. There are roles that include Technical Sales Architects (which can be on a sales plan – see sales roles), or Test architects.
Most IT Architects begin their careers as IT Specialists, since the IT Specialist profession has entry and staff levels within which the aspiring technical person can acquire the skills and experience which are prerequisite for starting a career as an IT Architect.
Growing your skills
IT Architect skills are grouped into two primary categories: fundamental skills and discipline skills. All IT Architects must develop proficiency in the fundamental skills. Growing your skills requires a combination of experience, education, training, coaching, and mentoring. Education and training can be separated into several forms including self study, e-learning, internships, classroom and seminars.In the IT Architect Profession we currently have 7 disciplines:

System Operators
Job description:
- Monitoring, controlling and operating complex computer systems, networks, applications and/or distributed systems in a multi vendor environment.
- Production batch applications, including developing the operational plan, scheduling and control of batch processing and development of customers scripts.
- Analysing first level problems for all systems, resolving and routing as appropriate.
Requirements:
This position is available in all levels of seniority. Not all of technical requirements below need to be met by an applicant. We encourage also candidates with minimal technical background to apply:- Written and verbal English, additional foreign language is advantage.
- Knowledge of Operating Systems (Windows NT, W2K, XP, UNIX, SUN, AIX, Linux) and IP Services.

Client Support Manager
Job description:
This role is the leading Service Management position. It applies to the external as well as the internal customer. Employees in this role manage the service within the Delivery Centre Poland in Wroclaw and provides the DPE/Lead SM with a single point of contact into the IBM Delivery Centre Poland. They manage the delivery of service to the account as defined in the SOW this may include managing the IBM Delivery Centre Poland cost model, any local supplier management, reporting and task management of the IBM Delivery Centre Poland account team.Main activities include:
- Primary point of contact in the IBM Delivery Centre Poland for service levels and issues for customer
- Support overall customer relationship and customer satisfaction
- Deliver cost effective, standard customer measurements in line with contracted commitments - input to Service Review/Pack
- Support Account planning/strategy
- Support Proposal leadership for account including qualification of new business opportunities
- Support drive of profitable revenue growth
- Responsible for Security and audit compliance, reviews & actions
- Provide input to and where appropriate help deliver transition plans (from a customer deliverable point of view)
- Manage within overall contracts costs and provide input to budgets
- Provide agreed IBM/business with single point of contact into the IBM Delivery Centre Poland team.
- Provide leadership and direction to the Delivery Centre Poland Service teams
- Working with the DPE/SDM own level of service quality and Service Delivery performance
- Continually identify ways to reduce costs of delivering the services
- Monitor and manage service delivery performance of local Subcontractors /third-party suppliers (usually Senior CSM role only)
Requirements:

Service Coordinator
Job description:
This role supervises, coordinates and maintains on a daily basis, the levels of service agreed with and expected by the customer (SLA or equivalent documents) while keeping a constant focus on improving the performance of the services provided. Note: They represents the customer viewpoint to the delivery organization resources allocated (from the Operational Competencies) to the contract.Responsibilities:
- Be the first Service Management contact point for the delivery organization for all the "operational activities of the customer".
- Assume the leadership and the operational responsibility for the resources (from the Operational Competencies) allocated to the customers or services under his responsibility.
- With agreement from the SM/DPE, be the customer’s focal point for all aspects concerning service delivery on a day to day basis taking any necessary actions to maintain and to reinforce the quality of these operational contacts.
- Own the operational Service or Customer documentation used within the delivery organization and assume responsibility for its update.
- Assume responsibility for updating the hardware and software inventories in accordance with asset management processes.
- Participate in service status meetings of the delivery organization, providing information and analysis related to the services delivered to the customer and support the SM/DPE in the service status meetings held with the customer.
- Raise requirements to the relevant delivery organization functions in order to improve efficiency.
- Provide the SM/DPE with reports on workload monitoring.
- Participate in contractual customer meetings upon the SM/DPE’s request.
- Obtain the SM/DPE’s agreement to providing additional resources which may affect costs.
- Support the SM/DPE in the establishment of customer satisfaction measurements with regard to due services.
- Ensure the coherence of the backup and data recovery plan.
