Diversity
We understand that in order for us to help make the world a smarter place, we need a constant flow of new and diverse ideas. And to do that we believe you need a diverse team working together, generating diversity of thought. Unique backgrounds. Opposing ideas. Different outlooks.
We have relied on this diverse thought for a long time, and it’s helped us change industries and revolutionise business. Now we are striving to develop smarter systems to tackle the world’s big problems, and diversity is more important than ever.
Maybe that’s why at IBM
Maybe that’s why at IBM, we take diversity a little more seriously than other companies. It’s an integral part of our make-up, and essential to our future success.
But don’t just take our word for it! IBM Poland has received the Gender Index 2006 and the Firma przyjazna Mamie awards. And here’s some of our initiatives to support women and families:
- the establishment of the IBM Women Leadership Council in Poland
- the establishment of the Women In Technology group in Poland, primarily focused on helping more women accede to management positions, employ more women, support the professional development of women, and retain more women at IBM
- the launch of the ‘Taking the Stage’ business education program for women at IBM Polska in 2004
- the implementation of the ‘Stay Connected’ initiative to provide new mothers with access to IBM's network for 12 months after childbirth, and to deliver e-learning courses for mothers on maternity leaves
- education sessions for the management team on how to support new mothers
- the organization and financing of summer and winter camps and holiday play schemes for employees' children
- the provision of organized healthcare for employees' children and parents
- the portal dedicated to work-life balance issues and childcare/elderly care
- collaboration with a preschool facility.
