SCM consultants work with Chief Operating Officers and procurement and logistics personnel to reduce product supply costs, improve service delivery and develop collaborative relationships with key trading partners.
They must know and implement leading practices in business processes, Key Performance Indicators and organizational design and be able to use technology to replace physical assets, such as inventory, with information, in order to reduce business process cycle times and costs.
The skills involved run the full gamut from defining pragmatic strategies for improving supply chain performance to forecasting demand and optimizing response and to improving procurement effectiveness and the timing of goods to market.
