Design, Implementation and Evaluation of a Semantic-Web-based Change Management Tool

Beschreibung From a customer's perspective, deployment and maintenance of applications in a multi-tiered IT infrastructure is complicated. Product interdependencies on version levels, fixpack levels and configuration make change management of a complicated setup even more complicated, troubleshooting and fixing is often only possible by human experts, and there is little or no automation.

There are many sources of information required for change management like user documentation, release notes, human experts and others. The idea of this diploma thesis is to make this knowledge accessible to machines and to provide a tool that makes use of this knowledge to assist or automate change management tasks. Basis technology for this approach is the Semantic Web.

The goal is to develop the core components of a semantics-based change management tool. A typical use case is that the user provides a description of his environment and a target state he would like to achieve. The core component computes the necessary steps to transform the environment.
