The consultants who face the challenges

Interviewee: Peter van Schijndel, SAP Consultant

IBM is synonymous with innovation.

What makes my job special:
At IBM Global Business Services you learn things you can't learn anywhere else. Like how to push your limits in terms of being innovative and creative on every project, while working on real-life business situations.

What my job is like:
I always work as part of a team on client projects which involve ERP software implementations, and more specifically SAP implementations. According to the client's needs; we work together to build a solution that fits.

What my last project was like:
The last project I worked on was for our client Dureal. We implemented SAP for a fast-growing company.
The smaller size of this project created large challenges: each person had to cover more areas and roles than is normally the case. In the end, it expanded not only my skills, but also my confidence.

One of my key memories:
I started at IBM Global Business Services with a big group of young professionals, who all began at the same time. It felt like being a freshman all over again.

We still meet each other regularly for Friday night drinks in the city - it's been great to keep that bond over the last three years.

My word to new consultants:
Use your global and local networks! All your colleagues are a valuable resource for bringing your own work to a higher level.
