It is very important to us that everybody in IBM buys into our shared values. In July 2003, IBM employees around the world took part in ‘ValuesJam’ - an unprecedented 72 hour online discussion. Thousands of postings and emails were thoroughly analysed and distilled into the three values shared by us all. They shaped and defined our working environment and culture – to guide the company and our people in the years ahead.
It was vital that everyone had the chance to contribute. Our values are more than words on paper or screen – they’re brought to life by our employees. Every IBM employee applies them to their personal work, their interactions with each other, their clients and to the wider world. It’s part of what makes our company special.
Dedication to every client’s success

- Are passionate about building strong, long-lasting client relationships. This dedication spurs us to go "above and beyond" on our client's behalf.
- Are focused on outcomes. We sell products, services and solutions, but all with the goal of helping our clients succeed, however they measure success.
- Demonstrate this personal dedication to every client, from the largest corporation and government agency to the startup and neighborhood market.
- No matter where they work, have a role in client success. It requires the full spectrum of IBM expertise.
Innovation that matters - for our company and for the world
IBM employees:
- Are forward thinkers. We believe in progress, believe that the application of intelligence, reason and science can improve business, society and the human condition.
- Love grand challenges, as well as everyday improvements. Whatever the problem or the context, every IBM employee seeks ways to tackle it creatively - to be an innovator.
- Strive to be first - in technology, in business, in responsible policy. We take informed risks and champion new ideas.
