Overview
The aim of the IBM NGN Competence Center is to provide products in the form of appliances, based on NGN-Factory architecture, that can be easily integrated into existing network structures and existing processes. Choosing high-performance standard hardware and software thus enables high availability through redundant system configuration and providing standardized interfaces, whilst simultaneously reducing operational expenditure for appliances. The provision of standardized interfaces permits simple integration into an existing system environment and its extension for new services.
Components
Our appliances consist of three components:
- NGN applications
Selected NGN applications from the NGN-Factory, that allow easy integration of the appliance into an existing environment via defined, standard-compliant interfaces, e.g. for linking terminals, accounting or commissioning of user data.
- Standard hardware & software
High-performance IBM standard hardware and software components such as pSeries, xSeries and DB/2. They offer high availability for the manufacturing facility with low operational expenditure.
- Services
Basic installation and configuration of NGN applications on standard hardware/software, including functional verification and, if required, adjustment of systems to the specific requirements of the operational environment. Additional maintenance services for hardware and software installed as needed.
IP-based telephony appliances
In the area of fixed network substitution and simulation, there are currently two IP-based telephony appliances available:
- NGN-Factory Core System
- NGN-Factory Trial System
