Armonk, USA/Stuttgart - 2. Dezember 2008: Die Gartner Group hat bekanntgegeben,daß IBM (NYSE: IBM) die Platz-Eins-Position im weltweiten Servermarkt, gemessen nach Umsatz, erneut im dritten Quartal 2008 einnehmen konnte [1].
Für das dritte Quartal 2008 gab Gartner u.a. folgende Werte bekannt:
- die IBM Marktposition wurde vor allem durch Absätze der Power Systems und System z-Mainframes fundiert
- Power Systems (inklusive früherer System p-Modelle) haben 33 Prozent Marktanteil in der Unix-Server-Kategorie erreicht
- Alle IBM Brands in der Kategorie "Server über 250.000 $ Anschaffungspreis" haben 57,7 Prozent Marktanteil erreicht; System z-Mainframes haben in dieser Kategorie 33 Prozent Marktanteil erreicht
- IBM hat einen Marktanteil von 44,9 Prozent bei Servern mit über 10.000 $ Anschaffungspreis.
- IBM hat auch in den Regionen Americas und Asia Pacific (mit Japan) jeweils 32,8 Prozent respektive 30,2 Prozent Marktanteil und damit die dortige Platz-Eins-Position erreicht.

Report: IBM Leader in Worldwide Server Revenue Share for Q308
ARMONK, NY - 01 Dec 2008: Gartner has reported that IBM (NYSE: IBM) held its number one position as the leading vendor in worldwide server revenue. According to Gartner data, IBM captured 30.3 percent of all server revenue worldwide in the third quarter of 2008 [1].
For the third quarter of 2008, Gartner reported the following:
- IBM's server leadership was driven by Power Systems and System z.
- Power Systems (including earlier System p models) captured 33 percent revenue share of Gartner's Unix servers category.
- All IBM brands in Gartner's over $250,000 server category combined to capture 57.7 percent revenue share; System z captured 33 percent revenue share in the category.
- IBM reigned in 44.9 percent revenue share for servers priced at $10,000 or more.
IBM demonstrated industry leadership across the Americas and Asia Pacific (including Japan), garnering 32.8 percent, and 30.2 percent revenue share respectively in the geographies according to Gartner.
