IBM ist laut Ovum führend im Bereich Service Management

 


Die vor kurzem veröffentlichte „IT Service Management Vendor Report Card 2006“ von Ovum Summit sieht IBM beim IT Service Management in der Spitzenposition. Der Report basiert auf einer Umfrage unter großen und mittelständischen Unternehmen, die Mitte 2006 durchgeführt wurde. Unter den befragten Unternehmen nannten 11 Prozent IBM als strategischen IT Management Software Anbieter ihrer Wahl, noch vor HP, BMC und CA. Darüber hinaus wurde IBM unter den genannten Unternehmen als der Anbieter mit der differenziertesten Strategie zur Ausrichtung von IT und Business identifiziert. Ovum Summit führt dies unter anderem auf die Akquisitionen von MRO Software, Micromuse und Vallent durch IBM sowie das Engagement in den Bereichen IT Governance, Risikomanagement und Service Management zurück.

„IT Services werden zunehmend ganzheitlich betrachtet, angefangen bei Regularien und internen Policies über den gesamten Prozess der Anwendungsentwicklung und Transaktionen in Echtzeit bis hin zum Einsatz von Diensten von Outsourcing- oder Software-as-a-Service-Anbietern“, erklärte Mary Johnston Turner, Vice President bei Ovum Summit. „Das Engagement von IBM in den Bereichen Service Management und SOA sowie IT Governance liegt eindeutig auf dem gleichen Kurs wie die Marktentwicklung.“

IBM SOFTWARE LEADS IN SERVICE MANAGEMENT, REPORT FINDS

ARMONK, NY – March 1, 2007: Based on customer studies by independent analyst firm Ovum Summit, IBM (NYSE: IBM) today announced that it is has been identified as one of the most strategic vendors in the IT Service Management (ITSM) market. [1]

Industry analyst firm Ovum Summit recently published its 2006 report card for IT Service Management. ITSM encompasses IT staffing, planning, operations or governance and services lifecycle management; the backbone of every business.

According to enterprise and mid-market customers polled by Ovum Summit in mid 2006, IBM led in the category of "most strategic IT management software vendor" with 11 percent of customers choosing IBM. In the same survey, 8 percent of customers rated HP as their strategic IT management software vendor, 7 percent rated BMC as their strategic IT management software vendor and 6 percent rated CA as their strategic vendor.

In addition, IBM was identified as having the "most differentiated business/IT alignment strategy" of the four ITSM vendors profiled. Ovum Summit credited IBM in this category as a result of its middleware integration and recent software acquisitions including MRO Software, Micromuse and Vallent. IBM’s emphasis on IT governance, risk mitigation and service management also contributed to this ranking.
