We are the IBM team that makes SAP® applications and SAP® appliances run on IBM Power Systems, System z, System x and System Storage.
These teams are part of the global IBM and SAP® alliance.
In a joint development effort with the SAP® development team in Walldorf, Germany, we are in charge of IBM server-related aspects of the SAP NetWeaver® technology and the SAP® Business Suite solution stacks.
We provide platform abstraction both at the database and at the operating system level to ensure seamless and high performance integration with all SAP® applications. Most notably, we integrate the database back-ends
IBM DB2 for Linux, Unix and Windows, IBM DB2 for z/OS and IBM DB2 for IBM i with the powerful operating system platforms
Linux,
AIX,
z/OS as well as
IBM i.
The range of activities spans from database tuning and optimization to implementing highly available autonomic SAP® solutions.
In cooperation with SAP® development, we drive new features for IBM servers into SAP NetWeaver®, e.g. Live Partition Mobility in POWER6.
We cooperate with IBM Labs all over the world to add features not only to SAP® applications, but also to IBM software to further optimize it with respect to SAP NetWeaver®. Among these labs are the development laboratories in Silicon Valley (DB2), Toronto (DB2 Connect, DB2 Control Center, XL compiler), Poughkeepsie (z/OS), Rochester (IBM i), Austin (AIX, Linux), Hursley (Java) and directly here at Boeblingen with zLinux.
The IBM System z Technology Center for SAP® Applications in the Boeblingen Lab collaborates with SAP® and worldwide IBM labs on technology, architecture, development, and performance in order to optimize System z and DB2 technology for SAP® environments. The deep and complex SAP® on System z knowledge and competence of the Technology Center are translated into value propositions for our customers.
We are also involved in numerous IBM redbooks to provide guidance on integration, implementation, and operation of customer scenarios to partners and customers.
