ADINT/TSM is an intelligent interface module for backing up and restoring MaxDB databases using the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM): MaxDB databases can be integrated in a TSM infrastructure and take full advantage of TSM’s leading storage management capabilities, anddatabase administration can exploit the proven MaxDB backup and restore functionality:
- Full database backup online or offline
- Full database backup without checkpoint online or offline
- Log backup ·Incremental backup (changes since last backup)
- Incremental backup without checkpoint
- Forward recovery
ADINT/TSM moves data between MaxDB and TSM in a continuous, single step process. It does not need intermediate storage of the data, and hence provides for MaxDB backup/restore with a maximum of
- simplicity/robustness
- cost efficiency
- performance
Other non-database files, e.g. SAP system files, are backed up using TSM standard backup/archiv client functionality for file system files, like incremental backup, file filtering, point-in-time recovery, etc.
