Having obtained a degree in Mathematics at the KUL (Katholieke Universiteit van Leuven), Bart Van Den Meersche began his career at IBM Belgium in 1982 in the CAD/CAM division. There he occupied the posts of Marketing Support and Sales Representative.
From 1988 to 1993, he served as an Account Manager for major international clients.
In 1994, Bart Van Den Meersche became a Sales Manager in the Outsourcing department for Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. During these three years, with the help of his staff, he developed a large portfolio of outsourcing contracts. He personally negotiated the larger contracts.
In 1998 Bart Van Den Meersche took on the role of Manager of the Strategic Outsourcing department for Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. This department has three main activities (sales/marketing, project management and service delivery) handled by 300 staff and had a turnover in excess of BEF 2.5 billions in 1998.
In 1999, his responsibilities grew when Bart Van Den Meersche was appointed Strategic Outsourcing & Integrated Technology Services Director of IBM Global Services Belgium/Luxembourg (staff of 900 and turnover of BEF 8 billions in 1999). The Strategic Outsourcing & Integrated Technology unit provides a wide range of IT services, such as e-business Infrastructure Services, IT Consulting, Technical Support Services, Strategic Outsourcing Services, e-business Hosting Services.
From 1 October 2001, Bart Van Den Meersche has occupied the position of IBM Country General Manager for Belgium/Luxembourg. Bart Van Den Meersche was born in 1957 and is married with 3 children.
